canada is no joke

talking to a friend while googling the canada map, and i realized just how big that place is!!! it's like at least 3x as big as the US - the northern boundary of our alaska isn't even halfway north into canadian territories - which stretch to the arctic! and they have oil fields that are 2nd only to the mideast - and once they figure out how to tap/ leverage that resource - playtime is over. every time i learn something new about canada, i think it's even cooler. ha!

You live in Maryland. That's not that far away from Canada. How can you be so oblivious to a country that is so close to you? This post is pretty embarrassing.

just so you know, that map is a mercator projection which distorts the size of landmasses near the poles - you probably remember that from Earth Science or geography. canada is big, but not nearly as big as the map you posted! check out wikipedia for a better map.

what i always find really crazy is that despite how big canada is - our population is something like 33 million. which is quite small when you consider that's the population of like...the state of california! i think the us population is like 300 million. a lot of our population lives close to the border though - the land in the north is pretty harsh conditions and from what i've learned/heard pretty uninhabitable(sp).
